ANN ARBOR, MI. Sept 21, 2011: Yellow Car of Ann Arbor, known for its expedient and efficient yellow vehicles, is joining hundreds of fleets across the country, Canada and the UK by painting one of their Hybrid vehicles pink for the month of October to raise awareness and funds for the fight against breast cancer. Yellow Car of Ann Arbor will keep one of its vehicles painted pink beyond October, donating $1 from every ride, to breast cancer awareness and research through the American Cancer Society (ACS). There is no additional costs to passengers, however passengers will have an opportunity to donate to the cause by TEXTing or by using the donation box in the vehicle.
The concept of vehicles going pink is part of the second annual Pink Ride Program spearheaded by the TLPA (Taxi, Limousine & Paratransit Association), a global association of for-hire vehicle fleet owners representing 1,100 companies. Last year the program raised $115,000 for cancer charities and research organizations.
"Our members represent 100,000 vehicles on the road today so we already have a tremendous presence and visibility out there in the public, all across America, and in fact, around the world," said TPLA CEO Alfred LaGasse. "We're harnessing that visibility to make a difference."
